Rustic Stool

SOLD!

After several other projects made from a long piece of raw cherry wood 2in thick, this piece was left. What to do with it...

After cutting it square, some left over ends of table legs were perfect for making this stool.

The legs were painted

The wood was sanded and lacquered.

For an easy but secure connection, steel screw plates were used. First, they were attached into the legs.

Then the plates were attached to the bottom side of the wood.

Makes a pretty awesome result!! Who needs a stool to rest those weary feet!

Final dimensions:

Coffee table or Amazing Bench!! You decide

SOLD!

We still had 2 amazing HUGE pieces of raw 2in thick kiln dried cherry wood. So we decided on some things to make and got to work.

The raw piece that we started with

Measured, checked and cut

The longest piece was sized for the coffee table. It took loads of sanding to get it down to baby smooth.

We loved the look of the bare wood so decided not to add stain or color. Simple lacquer, a few coats of it, made this amazing result!!

Now to address the base. We found this antique sewing table base at a local barn sale. Solid iron and great design, but obviously needed some cleaning up.

To match the gorgeous finish of the wood, we picked a high gloss finish for the base.

A few coats later

Now to attach.

Only attached, did we step back and say "Hey, that's a gorgeous bench!" Guess it's more versatile than we had planned.

Coffee table or bench...you decide!
